As I wrote it in a previous post, my Mum is turning 60 this summer and it is kind of a big deal. My sister and I really wanted to spoil her for her birthday and thank you for everything she has done for us. Of course there would be a party with my father, brother, family and friends too, but we wanted to organize a “girly” activity just the three of us. And what is a better activity than a Spa retreat?
We booked a stay at a beautiful hotel called “La Licorne” (“The Unicorn”) which is a very old establishment created in 1610 and located in the heart of the charming town of Lyons-la-Forêt. It is another whimsical little town in Normandy with beautiful old buildings, lovely antique shops and delicious restaurants. The perfect place for a two-days escape.
The hotel is beautifully decorated and has a wonderful Nuxe Spa. Here are a few pics of Lyons-la-Forêt…
I didn’t take my camera with me to the spa but let me tell you it was beautiful. Here are a few pics from my sister’s phone (and you’ll even discover my Sister’s feet :-)) and another pic from the website of the hotel itself to give you an idea of the decor.
I loved the fact that they have an inside-&-outdoor pool which isn’t that common for a Spa. With the sunny weather we enjoyed, it was nice to be able to be outside.
We enjoyed a very relaxing massage at the Spa and you can even receive yours in a cabin built in a tree…
We had booked the beautiful suite called “Herbe Mere” which had one living room with a convertible sofa and another bedroom with two beds. It was perfect for the three of us. After a great day at the spa , we went back to our room to dress up for the night while sipping a glass of champagne.
The next morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast (so sorry I didn’t took my camera!). We went back to the spa for another pampering half-day. After that, we went to an other restaurant in town called “Le Grand Cerf” where we enjoyed a delicious menu: cantaloupe cold soup, bass with fennel and chorizo and a white chocolate mousse with strawberries coulis as a dessert. Let me tell you… we were in heaven!
After our lunch, we enjoyed a guided tour of the town during the afternoon, and then… Damn, it was already time to get back home! Time flies so fast! But we really loved this special moment together and my Mum was so happy that we had organized all of this for her. We really wanted to find something to please her and it seems we succeeded. We even decided to do this every year for her birthday! Let’s see next year if we are trustful people 😉
In the meantime I hope you enjoyed this post and I see you in a few days for a special post about the surprise gift bags I made for our Spa retreat.
